thoughts from a reverend on the coast
i don’t have a blog of my own anymore (other than Myspace…and i think more people read this than are still on Myspace). so now that i’m back in L.A., i need to get my thoughts down quickly before real life sets back in and i have to stop living in this blurry euphoric haze where i believe anything is possible that always follows a visit to OOB. so pardon my ranting and effusion...

You tell me what it look like.
So this was taken during our second day in Austin.  We came across this sign on Congress Ave and Had to take a picture. The first thing I say when I see it is “That sign looks like a Dick” So If there is one thing I will remember from this trip, its sign that looks suspiciously like a penis.

My Personal OoB Highlights
by Shana Merlin (Get Up, Girls Girls Girls Improvised Musicals) - Taking my Improv 101 students to the opening night party and showing them the world of coolness that is Austin Improv (Two of them ended up in the A-list photo shoot!) - Totally failing at picking up Patti Stiles at the airport and then somehow having a wonderful dinner with her at Moonshine that evening. (Letting go of failure...

Well, it took us over 24 hours in the rented Hyundai Sonata, but we’re back in Minnesota and missing Austin already.  Everything seems too quiet, sober and unimprovised back home. We had a fantastic time, and we can’t thank everyone enough being so friendly, hilarious and generally awesome and supportive.  We only wish we could have stayed around longer to see more improv.  And more...

Get me off this plane!
Hello Oobers! Sam from Audience of Two—I am currently being carted back to NYC very much against my will—had I my druthers I would stay here in Austin and eat all of the El Chilito tacos and watch your beautiful, brave, hilarious comedy nonstop until I exploded from the aforementioned tacos. It’s been a glorious week, and I couldn’t possibly express fully how generous,...

Spread the love
I’m not sure how many of you are still reading this, but here’s a thought. If you loved Out of Bounds this year, take a moment to talk a little bit about it on an improv message board, Facebook, Twitter, or wherever.

You all are amazing
Hey all, Ben Masten from Audience of Two here. I just wanted to join the steady stream of heartfelt goodbyes that people are posting and thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for such an incredible week. The community that you all have created here in Austin is a truly unique and beautiful thing. I’ve never encountered such a powerful source of goodwill and passion. The last time I felt...

The BASICs of Out of Bounds 2009
I put this up on Facebook last night, but realized later how it sort of fits in with OoB’s old school video game theme because of its old school computer reference. If you get it, congrats. If you don’t, maybe even more congrats. 10 Get psyched about Out of Bounds 2009  20 See first night’s shows, meet people, and get a great feeling for rest of festival 30 Be in an show ...

All the Way
Mornin’. This is Kaci Beeler from Parallelogramophonograph and the Available Cupholders writing. I told myself I wouldn’t stay up all night again, but then Sean Fabri from Impro Melbourne and Jordan T. Maxwell from 7-10 Split were up for talking shop and I couldn’t say no. It’s rare that one finds a kindred artistic spirit from across the globe. Man. I feel a giddy sort...

Goodbyes
At Trudy’s with lots of the staff hugging and saying goodbyes to out of town folks. On the verge of tears. What a moving week. Improvised theater and it’s community is so magical and we’re so lucky to have been made aware of it. Good night everyone, see you next year. Jon Bolden

The Undertaker!
I just now learned on Wikipedia that The Undertaker is a professional wrestler. He played basketball in high school, has three children from two marriages, and now focuses on his real estate business.

Thanks to Out of Bounds this happened...
So as I am walking to the taxi at ohare there is a huge guy with a smoking hot lady in front of me, and a small crowd of people encompassing him. So I pick up the pace to see who it is. Turns out its the freaking Undertaker! Reports of random Tombstones at the airport are greatly exaggerated.

I'm kvelling!
The festival this year was astoundingly good and the fact that it’s here, produced by passionate former and current Austinites, makes me really happy with my decision to live in this city.  Out Bounds makes Austin awesome! Thank you to anyone who has ever contributed to making this festival possible.  Staff, Volunteers, Performers, audience, sponsers… you name em!  All of you make it...

what's the best?
just want to take this opportunity where I have nothing to do for the first time in a week to thank everyone involved in making this psychotically huge festival run like it did. I heard more compliments from out of towners about how awesome the community in Austin is than compliments about how awesome my beard is, so you know we’re doing something right. it’s the Austin comedy...

RIDICULOUS JACKET
MY TEAM WON THE MINIATURE GOLF TOURNAMENT! VIVA DAUGHTERS OF THE REVOLUTION!
